This is a home recorded version of one of our songs. We usually meet 2h every week for reharsal, jaming , composing and once at home we record our own stuff with reaper, sharing our files using a cloud.
Every comments are welcome wether you like it or not :) I used my Thumb BO5

I've been working on going through some of my old gig recordings, boosting them where necessary, and breaking them up into individual songs. Every once in a while I come across a gem. Here is my band Uneven Steven at the Palmer House in Rennselaerville NY on 9/26/14, fulfilling a special request from the venue owner by playing a cover of Phish's "First Tube". I was using my 8-string (octave courses) bass on this. It may actually be the only time I've ever taken a solo on the 8-string.

Now playing to build some nice atmosphere post midnight. What's that thing you 're doing at around 5:30? Sounds like ghosting and sounds amazingly cool. Now listening to your solo. :)

Thanks. I think I was muting the strings completely dead with the left hand on certain notes for a percussive effect.

Same band, after we fired the guitar player for no-showing us on a gig. We continue to this day as a keys/bass/drums trio, although our keyboardist has been playing some guitar with us too lately. Anyhow, here we are on some Herbie Hancock stuff. (BTW, we're usually an originals band, but I'm saving that stuff for another thread, coming soon to a Bass Arena near you, to celebrate a very-soon-to-be-released CD.)

In action from a rehearsal last night.....I wonder what kind of genre you'd call this?

FYI, You need to put on headphones for the full effect

I think the first song still needs a little work, but the other two are pretty jamming

I'm hearing so many different influences in this: Primus, Iron Maiden, U2, Chili Peppers, King's X.... if you're looking for something for marketing purposes, perhaps something like "alt-metal with a shot of funk" or something like that.

I really liked this by the way. I listened to all three songs. The guitar player is really good.

No kidding, that guitarist is pretty awesome!

But yeah I'm really digging this sound, I figure in another month or so we'll have this stuff down and it should be something really cool!!

The fun part about it also is that I always wrote bass lines for original bands that I've played in but never whole songs. So it's kind of neat to see some of my stuff come to life.....with some really good players I might add......cool fun stuff!!

    Me happy :)
