So Marco inspired me to revisit classic Yes material and came up with this favorite from Fragile -

Another one from Fragile that has a cool ambient and jazzy groove-

    Hello everybody, new guy here.

Right now I'm listening to More Motion, a compilation by a 90s band called Trenchmouth. They are probably best known today for giving the world Fred Armisen, a gifted drummer who is now better known as a gifted comic. Their music is aggressive and noisy, but with real musicianship too. Sort of a proto-math rock band.

I know a lot of people don't like John Mayer but I like what he does, and I like that he enlists great musicians. His live trio album TRY! is nice

I took my GF to see John Mayer one year for her Bday. I was not expecting to like the concert, but to my surprise it was pretty good. The guy's a heck of a blues guitarist when he wants to be.

I like pop songs that are bit avant-garde and somehow got past the mediocritizing committee- I present to you Strange Little Girl by Sad Cafe -

I just discovered this listening to Spotify's "Post Rock Top Tracks" playlist. It's not straight post rock (whatever straight post rock is, LOL). It's got some metal-ish elements too. It appears they are on tour with Fates Warning. I like this a lot.

XTC are probably my favorite band ever. This is an example of their pop mastery. Ripping bass line by Colin.
Anyone interested in them , Showtime will be airing a documentary called "This is Pop" about them on January 11th at 7:00pm (US EST).

I like the bass in Runaways off English Settlement and like We’re Looking Out for Nigel and The Hop (the videos are great as well). Oh “Paper and Iron” is cool.

A 70-minute long experimental jazz piece, complete with electric bassoon.... what's not to like?
