    So sad!
I was hoping you would complain about dolphins and offer or for cheap offers ! :p
Glad you feel at home though, it makes me wonder about GASing the next one that appears...

I finally got some better shots of my new 1990. I had been without a Dolphin for 12 years and they were very sad ones! I have been playing this bass pretty much every day for the past few weeks and have fallen in love with it. What a great instrument!

So the Dolphin Pro 2 is the MIJ version?
Have any of guys had both a Bart and MEC version and if so what did you prefer?

This is my fourth Dolphin. I owned the '89 Bart and '91 Bart broadneck 5. Then the '95 and now '05 Mec.
I prefer the Mec, sounds way more growly. The Bart fit Dolphins are good but sound more modest.
When playing a Warwick I want that growl.

Most Pro2 were made in Japan by Moris, some were made in Germany but most of those were taken back and destroyed.

I was going to say the exact opposite. :) Barts give a dark bite that MEC fail to deliver. I'll gladly admit that MEC are more versatile than the Barts on the Dolphin 4, yes. The 89 with boiré and barts is a snarly, nasal bitch that is at ease with slap, tap and "jaco" stuff. The 98 Boiré/MEC is much more polite and can do almost everything.
BUT, here me when I say - back by VERY great names including Rex Brown, Mark Michell and Etienne M'Bappé, the Dolphin 5 with Barts soapbars and spector Tonepump preamp is THE way to go.
I considered briefly to put the same preamp in the 89 Dolphin just to see, but I kinda like that character.

Odd. My '91 broadneck with barts sounded very generic and rather tame to my taste.
The '95 en '05 with mecs are much more growly then that or the '89, which was mainly nasal and punchtrhruthemixy.

    WHAT IS GOING ON HERE!

    Hey folks

    'M Back ;)

Marco... I am SO happy to know my beloved bass in your hands !

    Good thing the JAN.
I received that dolph with her JAN broken...
I had a brass one for long and as you must have guessed I did not glue it cause I was pretty sure that the future owner will change it for good.

I could not find a better owner for this instrument anywer but here :)

    Btw
    I will sell ( or trade + $ ) my 1996 boiré/ebony fingerboard w leds 5NT fretless Dolphin... or trade
Cause I defenitely need a 4 string one.
    And a boiré/wengué+barto or nothing.

    So guys
I will post a new thread soon on the appropriated place, but if you could tell me how much I can ask for this unique piece ?

    Perfect conditions.
As you probabely remember only the finition is not genuine,
I received it in a so bad condition on a black/red sunburst finish...
The little black door for the leds 3 batteries is broken : I have found a piece of wengué that will perfectly fit.

Ps: I'll will maybe up this post
    FT : 1996 5string Dolphin Pro I , Custom Shop.
    You can see pics

And if by chance you see an ad like this one ≥ Warwick Dolphin pro1 boire bartolini zeldzaam - Snaarinstrumenten | Gitaren | Bas - Marktplaats.nl
But with a normal price, please whistle and shout as strong as you can
    Or just tell me ;)

    Anyway : cheers everyone

    I'll ask 3500 euros...

please don't hesitate to tell me if it's too expensive or not not enough...
I just want to sell it the fair price, and find a Boiré 4 string Dolpghin as soon as I can find one .

'Fair' price doesn't come into it sadly! :(
I sold a CS Pro I fretless a few years back (many will remember it as it was featured in a W video of how a Dolphin is made) and despite lots of love for it on here, I struggled to sell it for 50% of the price you have quoted.

The pleasure is all mine buddy. I absolutely LOVE this bass!
That neck is soooo good. It is insane really. Only the '89 was as good as this one.

Nice to see you back! Don't be a stranger.

Times have changed. Four stringers are being put on the market for 2500, 3000, 3500 these days.
I consider myself lucky to have bought a 5 string for 2500 recently...

@lucales I think I can help you. Too bad the 5-strings fretless is not broadneck'd. I sent you a message on zikinf.
Yes, prices have gone up, but no one is buying at those prices. I never saw a Dolphin last more than 2 weeks; except for adds over 3000€. The Fretless5 CS of Lucales should be worth 3500, 3000 shoud do it because, you know, fretless :) . Not sure if anyone is going to be willing to pay that much, though.
The cheapest Dolphin 4 NT I saw was at 1700€, but with flaws and mods. I've never been able to put my hands on a Dolphin under 2200€. And I bought three of those. The most expensive was the 98 I had coming from the US (2600€ with taxes, ouch) le cheap one was the 5er, but it was (and is) in a "not too good" shape, because there was a ramp between the pickups and there are holes. And the preamp is not original.

    Anyway, Lucales, I can help you with a 89 blue Dolphin :) OR/AND a 98 Natural one. :)

    Thanks a lot guys.

I will go and see your mp on zikinf Henry, thanks.

You know... I was thinking about put some (warwick brass) frets on it for me.

I know how to do it perfectly and I have every tools needed.
    Maybe easyer to sell ?
    A 5er 1996 boiré + ebony fretboard w/leds could be great.

    Anyway,
    My text is ready
I post it in a few minutes

I will wait some times and we"ll see what will happen.
