@herb vibes : some years ago I was unsure if it is the right thing to do to have more than one bass. Then I saw your collection and decided to buy me a second bass. Hmm, let me think where it took me... :D

I just put new "traditional" strings on this. I am spending a lot of time with this bass at the moment. The 2 x 12 cab really works well with it also.

Picked up a 1996 SS2 today. Still lies in my car. Flu smashed me down, I‘m too weak to walk outside and grab it.

Sorry to hear about your bout with the flu-it’s been going around the Houston area as well-

    Congratulations on the bass though!

So three days later I managed to walk the 50 meter to my car and back to bring the Streamer into the house.

Heavy bugger, needs some good cleaning but works perfect. Goddamn SS2 killer tone!

Now how do I clean this? And should I try to „steam“ the scratches out?

If it were a bolt-on I would remove everything and SANDPAPER. But it isn't. Perhaps I would very very lightly sandpaper with very very fine sand paper. Would need lots of care for example where the neck meets the body. Steel wool may be able to remove most of the former user's DNA without much drama.

If by "scratches" you're referring to the multiple little black lines all over the instrument: that wood looks to me like it might be wenge, which naturally just looks like that.

For cleaning natural-finish instruments that don't have a clear coat, I like to use a lemon oil furniture polish such as Old English.

OK, I see them now. Personally, I'd just live with it.
