So what’s the story with the MarkBass CL300? I’ve got one too and thinking about pulling the fancy electronics out and rewiring point to point in a new case as they don’t do much for me and the screen isn’t working properly, stuck on bias display. It may be familiar to some here as I sold it to andrew92 and I have recently bought it back.

It could be as simple as the switch for the different view on screen faulty, Id check that first. With mine I had an issue where it would get stuck on bias mode and not pass audio. It turned out it was the plastic connector between the power transformer onto the board, One of the pins was totally black. After trying to clean a few times with no joy we soldered it direct to the board , so bypassing the Nolex connector, have not had an issue since. I think the connectors are not up to the type of current that gets passed. Anyway after we fixed that I have had no issues.

Ah right, probably something minor, I had an amp tech tell me the layout wasn’t amazing but he’s a pure pessimist. Still the circuit board is difficult to replace as it’s discontinued and I’m interested to build an amp. I have a guy who can take me through it so I figured it would be a good starting point to learn off something existing, if it all goes sideways I’ll put the circuit board back in. I love the sound and weight but I am not comfortable with the extra electronics, just more things that can break to me, and the yellow is not my style so a new head case and point to point should do it. I’ll know more once I try to map out the circuit, for now I’m just enjoying the sound of it and the sight of the tubes glowing (I took the front panel straight off!) and really really enjoying it with the NT1 I recently picked up. That thing goes deep with the bass cranked!

I was asking about removing the tolex I guess it got dented or scratched or something. I think it looks better, I see you took off the yellow logo too!

I have the service manual for this amp if you want it, Just send me your email address in PM or something.

I did not take the tolex off mine I got a custom sleeve made up for it. Mine had been dropped and had a crack down one side.

Check out those lovely dovetail joints!

Yeah the yellow logo sucks so threw that away but used the original black plate. It is secured with valcro so you can pop it open any time to watch the tubes glow. I replaced all the font end tubes with Golden lion tubes and am looking to replace all the power tubes to golden lion after these run out. I run mine in High def mode all the time.

    I love this amp.

It sounded rad in the store. Tubey, thick and growly. I only tried it with a P Bass though, can't wait to try it with my fire breathing G&L L2000s.

L2000’s make everything sound good. Or rather they can sound good through anything. I managed to get some gnarly overdrive happening plugged straight into the front of a MarkBass Classic 300, and it’s supposed to be a clean amp!

Just picked up a mark bass little mark three over the weekend. Really nice amp, for a class d. I had my eye on the mesa d800 but did not like the sound as much as the mark bass. I also tried the lwa1000 which iv owned before and remembered why i dont like that amp. Just sounds plastic. Nice to have a light amp for when im feeling lazy and sounds good with the barefaced cab.
