Not my personal cup of tea...but that makes no difference to you ofc. If you want to do it for whatever reason...go for it. Have you been in bands before?

If I had the time, I'd join too.

It's always a new challenge and good experience to learn new songs and play with other musicians. If they behave like human beings, of course.

Unless you hate the songs, ofc, then it may end up being torture to gig.

And sometimes, a band leads you to other bands and other musicians.

I would take into consideration also the odds of joining other bands, if you live in a city crowded with musicians and bands, or in a small town in the woods where chances are you wouldn't find another band to join in a year.

Can't judge from just one song. Have a tryout to see how you get along. Getting along musically AND personally is muy importante.

    Very true!

For me, the guys "singing" kills it. Reminds me too much of Staind, Seether and bands like that. I've always felt it was too much of a "tough guy trying to act soulful and vulnerable" to the point of being forced.

    Thanks guys for the feedback!

I've been band less for over a year now, I've been sitting around waiting for something good to pop up, and I'm tired of sitting. They're a little melodic for my taste but I think I can get into it.

But yeah I meet with them on Tues. The guitarist I've been talking to seems really cool. He's a family guy, so he's pretty down to earth......so we'll see what happens.

Thanks again guys for your feedback!

So this thread wasn't suppose to be about me, but since Im working with some guys starting a new band (now that my last band is dead) I thought I'd resurrect it

Tues I went for our first rehearsal. I worked with the guitarist before, it never really went anywhere, (he had kid and wife issues) but the drummer was new to me and I have say it was one of the best first rehearsal's I ever had.....The music will be all original old school thrash type stuff

We pretty much did it Jam Band style just to get a feel of each other abilities, but it was good....like real good!!....my adrenalin was pumping afterwards

I found this sample of some old stuff me and the guitarist did a few years back.....It has a nice little groove to it

Well they all seem to be serious, and we seem to share the same goals which is doing a few shows and playing metal.

Honestly I don't have anything else to do, so why not give it a try and see what happens

But you guys know how this stuff goes.....one week everything seems to be going pretty good and the next week someone gets upset and it all goes downhill

My experience is, yes, you have to go through a lot of that. But then you eventually find something that sticks. This could be that something. You never know. :)

Welp....just got back from rehearsal and the drummer showed up either drunk or he was on speed or something?

Personally I don't care what you do, but when you show up wasted to a rehearsal, now your wasting the other members time.

Soooo......I put in a call to another drummer to see if he's still available

The guitarist is working out great though...so, me and him are locked in

Sorry had to vent a little

    A little update here

Tues we tried out the new drummer, I've actually have know this guy for the last couple years, and everything is good now. God what a difference a good drummer (that's not wasted) makes.

Oh and we tried out a new singer last Thurs, he also showed up on Tues and he's working out really good. He kind of reminds me of Brian Johnson (AC/DC)

As of today I've gotten text's from the new guys asking when we are rehearsing again, so it seems like everyone is on board

Still to early to tell if this is all going to work out but Im hoping this will be my last post (a least for awhile) in the "Potential New Band" thread :)
